Development of a Spring-Based Piezoelectric Generator

by Simon Ignjatovic

A few words from the participant(s)

What steps did you take to develop your project?

First was background research on the properties of piezoelectricity and other generator designs using piezoelectric materials. I moved on to create a Beta 1 designed from cardboard with 3D printed gears and LEGO gears, making it cost efficient. However, after the Beta design failed I created my final design using a wood backboard, the same 3D printed gears, and wooden pistons connected to the gears with resin.

Why are you competing?

The project proved that electrical energy production is possible on a smaller scale while remaining cost-effective for purposes of application in rural countries that lack easy access to electricity.
